How priceless is your unfailing love! Both high and low among men find refuge in the shadow of your wings. Psalm 36:7
As I walked along the beach today, I saw a father, with two young sons in the water. As I walked by, I heard him calling out to his boys, “look at me” “come closer.” As a loving father worried his young boys may drift too far and concerned for their safety, he called to them. He said look at me, so he knew he had their attention. Then he told them to come closer. This earthly loving father wanted to watch over and protect his children. Hearing his gentle and loving words reminded me of God. How God wants us to look at him, come closer. He knows our name and he calls us to be closer to him.
As soon as I heard these words, I knew God was speaking to me too. I have been wanting to start this blog, but I have struggled. I know God has led me in this endeavor, but often we struggle with just starting. My struggle includes finding the time, finding the words and trusting God with this new journey. Just this morning before my walk, I spent time in prayer, searching scripture, and making notes for a blog post about prayer. As I was leaving, I prayed to God, letting him know I trusted him and I was leaving the “when” and “how” in HIS hands. Upon hearing this father speaking to his boys, I knew God wanted me to look at him and draw closer to him. Without a doubt, I heard God gently reminding me to trust him and come closer.
In James 4:8a scripture tells us Come near to God and he will come near to you. As we look at God we are assured of his love. In Jeremiah 31:3 God says “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness. Our God is just so sweet. I am amazed! This bible verse from Jeremiah is a verse God put on my heart some time ago as I searched God’s will in my life. And now, here I am applying it as I start my blogging journey.
I have to say that God is my heart and joy.
HIS love is amazing and Psalm 105:3-4 is so true!
Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. Look to the Lord and his strength, seek his face always.
